Can I wear them after birth?

Yes. Nothing about these is pregnancy-only, and postpartum swelling catches a lot of women by surprise.

Why swelling can continue

Your body does not reset the day the baby arrives. Fluid levels take time to come back down, and it is common for feet and ankles to stay puffy for a few weeks afterwards. Some women find the first week postpartum is the most swollen they have been.

On top of that, you are suddenly on your feet at all hours, often standing and rocking for long stretches, and getting very little sleep.

How to wear them

The same way. On in the morning, off before bed. There is no separate postpartum protocol.

Sizing after birth

Your calf measurement may change over the weeks after delivery. If a pair that fitted at 36 weeks now slides down, that is your legs changing rather than the sock failing.

Worth saying

The postpartum period carries its own health considerations, and swelling is one of the things clinicians pay attention to during it. If you have had a caesarean, if you have any concern about your legs, or if you have been told anything specific about your recovery, follow your care team rather than a page on our website.

Postpartum red flags are the same as the pregnancy ones. Swelling in one leg, calf pain, warmth or redness, severe headache, vision changes, or shortness of breath need urgent medical attention. See the full list.
