Why a cotton blend

Cotton against the skin feels softer than a fully synthetic knit, which matters when skin is more sensitive than usual and when you are wearing something for twelve hours. The spandex is what creates and holds the compression.

The honest trade-off: a cotton-rich sock is soft, but it holds moisture more than a technical synthetic does. If you run hot or you are pregnant through a summer, air them out properly between wears and rotate two pairs rather than wearing the same one two days running.

What 20 to 30 mmHg means

mmHg is the unit compression is measured in. 20 to 30 sits in the firm range, above everyday flight socks and below prescription-strength medical compression.

Graduated, not just tight

The pressure is highest at the ankle and decreases as it rises. That gradient is what encourages fluid to move upward rather than pooling. A sock that squeezes evenly, or worse, squeezes hardest at the top, works against you.
