Wide calves and plus size
If you have wider calves, you have probably been let down by a sock labelled "wide" before. So here is the straight answer rather than the marketing one.
What L/XL actually fits
L/XL is built for a calf circumference of 36 to 46 cm, which is 14.2 to 18.1 in, measured at the widest point. That covers a large share of pregnant calves, including many that standard socks fail on.
Where it stops
Above 18.1 in / 46 cm we are not the right sock for you, and we would rather say so than sell you a pair you will send back. If you measure above that, email info@lumabelly.com before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth trying.
The things that actually go wrong on a wide calf
- The top band turns into a tourniquet. A cuff that grips the widest part of the leg raises pressure at exactly the wrong point and can make ankle swelling worse. This is what people mean when they say compression made it worse.
- Red welts and indentations. Some marking after a full day is normal. Deep welts, broken skin, or marks still visible an hour after taking them off are not, and they mean the size is wrong.
- Rolling down. Almost always a sizing problem rather than a sock problem.
If any of these happen to you, do not push through it. Email us and we will sort the size out.
